The Redfern War Memorial was unveiled in November. Its granite column is surmounted by a marble figure of an Australian soldier. The unveiling was attended by several hundred people, most of whom were the relatives of the fallen soldiers. Alderman A. C. Isaacs said the municipality should take special pride in this memorial. The park is a Statuarially Protected Asset in New South Wales. It is an important site for aboriginal ties and cultural history. In 1988, the Park was the site of the Invasion Day ceremony.
