The Plumbing has been in business since 1978

The club has been known as the Bluebags for most of its history, but has recently taken on the nickname of Newtown Jets. The name may have been given to the club’s catchment area, which includes the Sydney Airport, or to the proximity of the home ground to a major flight path. The club plays its home matches at Henson Park. The Jets have produced a number of notable players over the years, including Geoff Carr and Barry Cox. The team has also featured the talents of former NSW premiership player Inisai Toga and former NSW first grade Grand Finalist Bob Clapham. More can be found here.

The team’s most recent high-profile performance was a semi-final appearance in the 2008 New South Wales Cup. Despite trailing in the match, the Jets were 8-4 at halftime and then trailed the Wentworthville Magpies by eight points at fulltime. The Magpies were able to score a try in the corner to win the game, and Newtown was crowned premiers. Learn more about Heritage Listings in Newtown, NSW.
